Following a merit-based recruitment process, Denese Espeut-Post has been appointed chair of the Mental Health Review Board for a four-year term effective Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025.
Espeut-Post obtained a bachelor of laws from the University of Alberta and a master of laws with a specialization in health law from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Espeut-Post was called to the Alberta bar in July 2001 and the British Columbia bar in June 2009 and holds a professional manager designation with the Canadian Institute of Management.
Espeut-Post has served as a member of the Mental Health Review Board since June 21, 2022. She is also a member of the Health Professions Review Board and sits on the B.C. Provincial Committee on Anti-Racism. Espeut-Post worked as a prosecutor for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and served on the board of directors of the BC College of Social Workers, including roles as board chair and chair of the finance committee.
Espeut-Post volunteered as a guest instructor for the Professional Legal Training Course (PLTC), contributed to the PLTC course materials and sat as a committee member with both the Canadian Bar Association B.C. Branch and the Law Society of British Columbia.
